令人引頸期盼，CHANDOS的柴可夫斯基三大芭蕾系列終於推出第二集。第一集睡美人發行以來受到各界的讚賞，美國唱片評論的樂評甚至給予「我聽過最棒的錄音之一」這樣的高榮譽

賈維和卑爾根愛樂的第二集「天鵝湖」同樣是以完整版呈現，並且加入傑出小提琴家詹姆斯．艾尼斯，借用他的優美琴音獻上獨奏。天鵝湖是柴可夫斯基第一部未刪減的芭蕾舞劇，1877年在莫斯科波修瓦劇院首演，可惜評價不佳，根據大多數當時的記載，編舞拙劣還不打緊，從其他劇作借來的布景和服裝更是破舊到慘不忍睹，就連管弦樂的演出也是相當令人詬病。現今多數芭蕾舞團都會以1895年知名編舞者莫里斯．佩蒂帕的修訂版為主。雖然這個版本多半被認為比較「適合跳舞」，但也有人認為將樂曲段落做全面性刪減重新編排其實只會破壞柴可夫斯基原有的戲劇性和音樂性。不過放心，這張專輯選用的是柴可夫斯基最原始的波修瓦版本，共四幕29首樂曲，另外追加數首柴可夫斯基在首演不久後又添加的曲目，讓你一次聽個過癮！
