十八世紀的時候,對於法國小提琴家來說,舞蹈是最重要的一項技能,因能掌握身體的節奏的人,才能精準地抓住小提琴演奏中的弦位細微變化。生於里昴的萊克雷爾的第一樣職業便是在當地歌劇院擔任舞者,而後在轉行為提琴手後,即發揮他先前優異的身體訓練特點,完美優雅地表現出原本可能過於繁瑣的裝飾,轉化成微微跳躍的銀鈴輕響;除了演奏技巧外,他有許多曲式結構的發展上也做了嘗試,從而建立他之為法國首位小提琴樂師的地位。
