A solo double bass at the Orchestre de l'Opera de Paris and a "Revelation 2025" at the Victoires de la musique, Lorraine Campet is one of the foremost figures of her instrument.

Performing in a chamber setting alongside pianist Nathanael Gouin, she presents a debut album devoted to German Romanticism. With the deep, warm timbre of the double bass, Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, Schumann's Fantasiestucke – formidable in their virtuosity – and Beethoven's Variations on The Magic Flute emerge in a new light. These are complemented by the splendid lieder of Josephine Lang, a little-known composer and friend of the Schumanns, which shine as gems in this intimate and impassioned recording.
