This release of five compact discs celebrates the long association that the distinguished conductor Sir Adrian Boult enjoyed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, from his tenure as Principal Conductor (1950–57) to his retirement in 1978. These recordings show Sir Adrian as a conductor of classics such as the Beethoven symphony, but embracing what was then considered contemporary music by Bela Bartok, and as a conductor of ballet music and a supporter of music by composers of his own country.
