"The present set contains the last but one concert conducted by Pierre Monteux (he is 88 years old), leading the famous Concertgebouw of Amsterdam: the Funeral March from the Eroica was performed as a tribute to President Kennedy who had just been assassinated two days earlier; the Brahms First and Harold in Italy by Berlioz. We have added Dvorak's famous cello concerto performed by Rostropovich with the above artists. All these recordings are first-time releases."
