Russian baroque violinist and countertenor Dmitry
Sinkovsky has been a fast-rising profile in Europe over the
past few years.
For instance, he has been a privileged partner of Joyce di
Donato during her on-going Drama Queen worldwide
tour, of whom he has thoroughly been conductor and solo
violin. Sinkovsky's outstanding virtuosity and wide stateof-
mind have systematically deeply impressed the audiences.
Sinkovsky's two contributions to the Vivaldi Edition
(Concertos 'per Pisendel' and Double Concertos with Riccardo
Minasi), both recorded with Il Pomo d'Oro, were
enthusiastically received by the press: Diapason, Gramophone,
Fonoforum, Scherzo e.a.
This new interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, one of
the most emblematic musical works ever composed, is
definitely a much-awaited event.
Even beyond the technical and musical options chosen by
Sinkovsky (some cadenzas and continuos with harps are
unforgettable), his will to integrate gorgeous vocal pieces
to the recording, the cantata "Cessate, omai Cessate" and
the aria "Gelido in ogni vena" from Farnace, give a unique
and appealing color to the whole ensemble.
