With the twelve-year-old Gioachino Rossini's Sonate a Quattro nos.3 and 6 the complete cycle of these pieces is now
available on harmonia mundi. Also included here are three rare jewels of chamber music by the mature composer: the
Serenata (1823), the Duo for cello and double bass (1824), and the Una lagrima Variations for cello and piano. The latter
piece shows that even in old age he was incapable of renouncing his theatrical wit, his magnificent cantilenas, and above all
his opera buffa style.
