兩首"以大自然為主題"的交響曲, 這種表達雖然正確, 但仍需要加註引號. 在貝多芬的偉大作品之前23年, (大自然的音樂描繪)交響曲比較不像是著名的(田園)交響曲的變形版, 呈現出的是一個作曲家非常讓人信服的嘗試著將自己從標題音樂解脫, 光是聽到這兩件作品首度的收錄在一起, 並且由樂團首席伯恩哈德.福克指揮柏林古樂學會樂團演奏, 就會讓人感到興奮.
Two symphonies ‘on the theme of nature’! Valid though this expression is, it nevertheless calls for quotation marks: far from being a prefiguration of the famous Pastoral, the Symphonie ‘Portrait musical de la nature’ represented a highly convincing attempt by its composer to extricate himself from programme music , 23 years before Beethoven's masterpiece! It is exciting to hear these two works recorded together for the first time by a period-instrument orchestra directed by its concertmaster, Bernhard Forck.
