Octogenerian Pendercki is one of the world's revered living composers. The LPO are acknowledging this with a release that emanates from 2 live concert performances - his Horn concerto (from they 2015 season) and Violin concerto (from their 2013 subscription season). The violin concerto, penned in the mid-1970s, marks Pendercki's move away from avant-garde and as a violinist himself ensures the most challenging technical demands from the soloist. Hungarian violinist Barnabas Kelemen is more than up for the challenge, this recording displaying his expressiveness and virtuosity in abundance. The horn concerto is no less demanding with the technical challenges demanded and the soloist Radovan Vlatković is more than up for the athletic and emotional challenges Penderecki presents in this work. The disc is rounded off with one of Penderecki's signature tune from 1960 -Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima, used in Twin Peaks and numerous other films. I attach the Rear inlay.

2 Adagio for Strings (from 3rd Symphony) 11:37
