At the heart of the Persian piano
Composed in 1992, Alireza Mashayekhi's Sheherazade (born in 1940) is a masterpiece of the Iranian solo piano repertoire. This second volume of the series "100 Years of Piano Music in Iran" initiated by pianist Layla Ramezan continues the fascinating journey into the heart of Iranian solo piano music. Mashayekhi's major composition, played with poetry, is combined with the tale told by Djamshid Chemirani, punctuated by improvisations with zarb and santoor by Keyvan Chemirani.
