(LP)重現奇克柯瑞亞的三首四重奏

Dal Sasso strikes again! Following the big band arrangements of John Coltrane's classics, "A Love Supreme" and "Africa/Brass", Christophe Dal Sasso tackles Chick Corea's "Three Quartets" (1981). Under the expert guidance of the arranger, his big band — voted group of the year by France's Victoires du Jazz in 2020 — revisits the pianist's legendary album, with on the front line, following the footsteps of the late Michael Brecker, three exceptional saxophonists who all owe a debt to him: David El-Malek, Stephane Guillaume and Rick Margitza (who recorded with Chick Corea at an early stage of his career). Composed by Chick Corea on the model of string quartets, the "Three Quartets" reveal, thanks to the masterful arrangements by Dal Sasso, all their formal deepness while the three tenors blow over these masterful scores with passion. Also included are two compositions recorded by Corea during the same sessions as "Three Quartets" which remained unreleased until the reissue of the album on CD in 1992, "Folk Song" and "Slippery When Wet", as well as a classic tune by the pianist, who gave his title to his very first album, "Tones For Joan's Bones". A monument record by an all-star big band, in the form of a lively and spectacular tribute to the great pianist who passed away in 2021.
