巡禮之年總共由「第一年」、「第二年」、「第二年補遺」、「第三年」等四部鋼琴獨奏集合而成，李斯特20出頭一直寫到60多歲，中間數次來回修改增訂才完成這部大作，同時亦是鋼琴家喜愛灌錄的作品，然而鮮少有人一次錄完。李斯特習慣把自己的舊作拿來改訂，很多歌曲同時會有兩、三個版本，巡禮之年第一、二集也是由他早期的作品加以修訂出版。儘管這些創作來自他旅行的經驗，卻並非一般描景敘事的標題音樂，身為纖細敏感的藝術家，李斯特反而希望能以音符傳達自身所體會到「最強烈的感動以及...最鮮明的印象」。CHANDOS旗下的法裔加拿大鋼琴家路易斯．洛堤於該廠牌發行超過30張專輯，演奏範圍從莫札特到史特拉文斯基。他的貝多芬英雄變奏曲曾拿下荷蘭愛迪生大獎、舒曼與布拉姆斯的專輯更被BBC音樂雜誌評為年度最佳專輯，李斯特「給鋼琴與管弦樂團作品集」和貝多芬「鋼琴奏鳴曲全集」同樣不遑多讓，雙雙獲得留聲機雜誌的主編推薦。洛提即將於2013年9月27日來台與NSO合作《維也納三傑》
