"The Spanish artist María Berasarte is probably the first person to sing fado in Castilian ! She was born in Galicia and identified with the Atlantic melancholy found in the fado of nearby Portugal. Different traditions, moods and colours blend to form her music, the emotion of fado mixes with the noble clarity of her classically-trained voice.
