"The greater part of the music recorded on Roma has been rediscovered for this album and is recorded here for the first time. The common feature in the selection of composers, who span several generations, is that they all spent some time in Rome. The period music ensemble Alte Musik Köln was founded by members of Musica Antiqua Köln after Reinhard Goebels withdrawal from the ensemble in 2006. In order to recreate the special sound of Baroque music, the musicians play original 18th century instruments or highly accurate temporary replicas."
