麥克‧史坦和傑夫‧羅伯融和爵士樂團 / 十一 Mike Stern & Jeff Lorber Fusion / Eleven

Guitarist Mike Stern collaborating with Jeff Lorber Fusion resulting in Eleven.  Despite performing in similar orbits and being on the same label for a period of time, this is the first time Mike and Jeff have performed together.  The two were brought together by producer and Jeff Lorber Fusion bassist Jimmy Haslip who worked with Mike as a member of The Yellowjackets on the Lifecycle album and tour.  “Jeff and Mike both admired each other’s musicianship and talent,” says Jimmy.  “As far as my conception for this collaboration, I thought working together would create something new and different, which was compelling to me.”  The end result is 10, mostly high energy tracks written by Mike, Jeff and Jimmy, with the signature tone of Mike’s guitar and Jeff’s keyboards.  In addition to Haslip on bass, the rhythm section is rounded out by drummers Vinnie Colaiuta, Gary Novak and Dave Weckl.  Dave Mann handles horn arrangements and playing on four of the tunes.
