龐丘•聖騎士 / 柯川的喜悅 Poncho Sanchez / Trane’s Delight

2019年9月20日在爵士樂薩克斯風大師約翰•柯川93歲冥誕前3天，拉丁爵士打擊樂傳奇人物龐丘•聖騎士發行了睽違7年的專輯『柯川的愉悅』。龐丘•聖騎士說道：「從小學習爵士樂，進入音樂領域，我曾錄下許多專輯為我心目中的英雄致敬。包括有鐵琴家Cal Tjader、打擊樂手Mongo Santamaira與Tito Puente等大師，這次是獻給影響不可磨滅的爵士大師約翰•柯川。』

  過去37年來他為Concord唱片錄下26張專輯，第27張專輯『柯川的愉悅』也代表著，音樂生生不息的理念。「Liberia」、「Giant Steps」與「Blue Train」三首經典作品，不但改編成拉丁式樣，不變的即興特質仍是最令人激賞的。標題曲是由龐丘本人與樂團伸縮號手Francisco Torres合寫，獻給大師前輩提供更多的音樂概念，並打開自己的音樂視野。專輯中還有道地拉丁爵士風貌的「Soul Bourgeoisie」，以及浪漫動人的歌唱曲「Todo Termino」，整張專輯就是以拉丁與爵士的演出為核心，創作出令人愉樂的即興樂章。

Poncho Sanchez is the longest running recording artist on Concord, having worked with the company for an astonishing 37 years.  Trane’s Delight, the conga player’s 27th album for Concord, is his first in 7 years.  It celebrates the life and music of iconic saxophonist John Coltrane whom Poncho began his obsession with in high school, pretending to be sick one day to listen to a radio interview.  The album includes 3 classic Coltrane compositions: “Liberia”, “Giant Steps” and “Blue Train”, a pair of new compositions written in his honor and several other originals and favorites.  In total, there are 11 songs performed by Poncho, trombonist and musical director Francisco Torres, trumpet and flugelhorn master Ron Blake, saxophonist Robert Hardt, pianist Andy Langham, bassists Rene Camacho and Ross Schodek, and percussionists Joey DeLeon and Giancarlo Anderson.  The official release date for Trane’s Delight is September 20th, just three days before what would have been Coltrane’s 93rd birthday.
