Home is a return to essentials. In this new album, recorded in Normandy – where he lives, breathes, and finds renewal – guitarist Emmanuel Rossfelder retraces his journey and reveals the many influences that have shaped him.
Each of the 20 tracks reflects a facet of his exceptionally wide-ranging musical world, giving full rein to his virtuosity through his own transcriptions. From the first pieces of music he heard – Chopin and Schumann – to the formative teaching of his mentor Alexandre Lagoya, with discoveries like Sor and Ponce, and on to the lullabies that entered his repertoire with fatherhood… each piece evokes a moment in time, a memory, a way of inhabiting the world through music.
Two original works – Nagoya by Christophe Julien and After the Fall by Jose Pavli – punctuate this luminous and intimate musical journey.
