Latvian violinist Vineta Sareika (1st violin of the Artemis Quartet) and French pianist Amandine Savary have shared the stage for many years, both members of the Dali trio. From this friendship was born the desire to continue to make music together. Their respective listening, their musical complicity radiates in this interpretation of this monument of chamber music: Edvard Grieg's sonatas for violin and piano.
Allergic to the great traditional musical forms, the Norwegian composer will however maintain a particular esteem for his 3 Sonatas until his old days, himself often on the keyboard to interpret them. The first sonata, fresh and inspired, is characterized by its melodic purity and continues to sing. The second, written at the time of her marriage, is a musical honeymoon; there is love, but above all dance, the central motif of his work. The third sonata will be born 20 years later after a difficult gestation; arguably the most played though the most demanding, it puts folklore in the background for the sake of more expressive research, more sought-after harmonies, rare power deployment.
