聖誕歌曲集》這張專輯是梅爾.朵姆這位老頑童與美國Telarc唱片公司首次合作錄製的唱片，朵姆為此譜寫了許多歌曲，包括《聖誕歌聲》、《聖誕節是為孩子而誕生的》，此外還譜寫了許多新的聖誕頌歌，並改編了六首聖誕歌曲 。《聖誕歌曲集》的誕生，是梅爾.朵姆企盼久矣的大事：「這份禮物，這個孩子，這個耶誕專輯，在我心中已經蘊釀了十年、十五年了....我非常興奮現在終於能著手去實現。」這張爵士風的聖誕音樂編曲非常輕鬆自在，即使是爵士音樂的入門者也很容易接受，不論在大編制的熱鬧場面或四個人的抒情表現，在在表現出編曲者的智慧與天才。
